- La Madremonte - guardian of forests and rivers, punishing desecration with storms and illness.
- El Mohán - river elder who seduces washerwomen, protects fish, and punishes greedy fishers.
- La Llorona - a grieving mother whose nocturnal wails foretell misfortune.
- Recuerdos - intermezzo of mountain-village memories: silence, forest, a grandmother’s voice, birdsong, and hoofbeats.
- La Patasola - a seductress revealed as a one-legged monster; a warning against infidelity.
- El Sombrerón - a small man in black who enchants with spellbinding songs.
- El Duende - a mischievous sprite who braids manes, hides objects, and confuses travelers.
